A community-funded scholarship initiative supporting students from low-income families who could not afford to continue their education. Every rupee is publicly accounted for; every story is told by the student themselves.
Why this exists
The classical Tamil verse எல்வது கரவேல் — 'Do not hide what you have to give' — became the quiet anchor for this initiative. Every year, students with academic promise quietly drop out because a few thousand rupees of fees stand in the way. This program was built to remove that barrier without removing their dignity.
How it works
Verified students share their context. A small circle of donors contributes whatever they can — no minimum, no maximum. Every contribution and every disbursement is published openly. The student decides how the funds are used, and shares a written reflection at the end of the term.
What the transparency unlocked
Public accountability turned out to be the real product. Donors gave more freely because they could see exactly where their money landed. Students felt seen as people rather than recipients. Several alumni have now returned as donors themselves — the loop is closing on its own.
