Rice Donation Initiative
Chennai, India June 10, 2024 12 volunteers 48 participants— Handing over the monthly rice contribution at New Hope & New Life Children's Home.
A monthly rice and meal contribution to a small orphanage in Chennai, organized by a quiet circle of volunteers who decided that consistency matters more than grandeur.
The case for consistency
Orphanages receive plenty of one-time generosity around festivals and birthdays — and then long quiet stretches in between. This initiative chose the quiet stretches. The same group, the same Saturday each month, the same warm meal.
Beyond the rice
Over time, the volunteers became familiar faces. The children began to expect us. Conversations replaced ceremony. A few volunteers started tutoring evening classes; a couple sponsor specific children's schooling fees today.

What this experience taught me
"Charity that is reliable becomes relationship. Reliability is the most underrated form of love. Showing up the second time matters far more than the first."
